Office of the President

On October 24, 2015 I had the honor of having lunch with Ma Ying-jeou, the President of the Republic of China. This is his office in Taipei on the Island of Taiwan  the next evening. It was quite an experience.

The father of Marge, my wife, was one of a handful of non-Chinese who stayed in Nanking, China in 1937 during what was to become infamous as the Rape of Nanking. We were invited by the president of the Republic of China for the 70th anniversary of the return of Taiwan by the Japanese to the Republic of China at the end of World War II. It was in the honor of Dr. Robert O. Wilson that we were invited by President Ma to travel to Taipei and share a few hours of the President’s time.
